We are looking to recruit enthusiastic Residential Support Workers on an adhoc basis to join our amazing team and help play a central role in ensuring high quality care for our children and young people!

Our client offers Short Break and Long-stay units for children and young people aged 5-18 years who have moderate to severe learning difficulties. Some of our children and young people exhibit challenging behaviours whilst others may have high medical needs.

You will need to be supportive to others, adaptable and creative. Good observations and assessments skills plus dedication to providing a safe stimulating environment for children are essential qualities required.

You will be required to have recent and relevant experience working in a childcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct Care: Providing personal care such as feeding, dressing, toileting, and assisting with mobility, ensuring the child's comfort and dignity.
  • Activity Facilitation: Engaging children in age-appropriate play, recreational activities, and outings, both within the unit and in the community.
  • Support with Daily Routines: Assisting with mealtimes, bedtime routines, and other daily tasks, ensuring consistency and structure.
  • Safeguarding and Wellbeing: Maintaining a safe environment, adhering to safeguarding policies, and promoting the child's physical and emotional safety.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicating effectively with the child, workers, and teachers.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of care provided, observations, and any incidents, and reporting concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Promoting Independence: Supporting children in developing independence skills, encouraging self-care, and promoting positive behaviour.
  • Creating a Positive Atmosphere: Contributing to a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment that fosters the child's sense of belonging and self-esteem.
  • Following Care Plans: Working in accordance with individual care plans, ensuring that the child's specific needs are met.

Shift patterns:

Term time: 07:00 - 11:00, 15:00 - 21:30 or 15:00 - 22:00 and 21:30 - 07:30 (waking Night)

Weekends , Bank holidays or School holidays : 07:00 - 14:30, 14:00 - 21:30, 14:00 - 22:00 and 21:30 - 07:00.

All temporary support workers must hold a valid enhanced DBS registered on the update service as well as mandatory training dated within the last year, or be willing to renew.
