We are seeking a Finance Assistant to join our clients team. This role involves undertaking routine accounting activities within designated operations, managing invoices, purchase orders, cash flow reporting, and assisting in the preparation of year-end accounts. The ideal candidate will be independent, adaptable, and proactive, with the ability to prioritise work effectively.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Responsible for the bookkeeping of the company, accurately entering all financial transactions onto the Sage system and reconciling bank and other balance sheet control accounts.
  • Managing month-end close processes, including payroll, reconciliations, and preparation of reports for senior management.
  • Analysing financial information to identify discrepancies, investigating, and resolving any differences identified in bank reconciliations.
  • Supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Recording purchase invoices, obtaining approval for payments, and ensuring invoices are settled within payment terms.
  • Handling sales ledger responsibilities, including the billing process and collections.
  • Researching and resolving discrepancies in a timely fashion, liaising with relevant departments, third-party providers, clients, and suppliers as required.
  • Assisting the team with the collection and processing of data for ad-hoc projects, such as audits and budgeting.
  • Updating and filing financial workings and performing other ad hoc tasks as required by the department, particularly at month-end.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of relevant, hands-on accounting experience with a good understanding of Finance department operations.
  • AAT qualified or training for ACCA is desirable.
  • Proficient in using SAGE50 accounting software.
  • Effective and efficient IT skills, with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned duties and as part of a team, interacting with all teams across the company, both Financial and Operational.
  • Demonstrates an ability to manage a variety of priorities while meeting deadlines.
