Inclusion Officer – Early Years, Education & Skills - Hourly Rate: £16.65 PAYE

Join a dedicated local authority team in Sheffield as an Inclusion Officer, focusing on Early Years, Education, and Skills. This role is crucial in supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) by managing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). You will ensure that their needs are met through effective assessment, planning, and collaboration with families and professionals.
Day-to-day of the role: - Manage a caseload of children and young people with SEND.
- Lead on statutory assessments and reviews of EHCPs.
- Write and update EHCPs to ensure they accurately reflect the child’s needs and support their progress.
- Liaise with families, schools, health, and care professionals to gather input and coordinate support.
- Represent the Local Authority at meetings and panels.
- Ensure all work is completed within legal timeframes and to a high standard.
- Promote inclusive practices and provide advice to schools and services.
- Use IT systems to manage casework and maintain accurate records.
Required Skills & Qualifications: - Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
- Knowledge of SEND legislation, including the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEN Code of Practice 2015.
- Experience working in multi-agency settings.
- Ability to manage sensitive conversations and resolve conflicts constructively.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly when handling legal documents like EHCPs.
- Process-driven and highly organised, able to manage multiple cases methodically.
- Calm under pressure, able to meet tight deadlines and handle complex situations with care.
- Very IT literate, confident using case management systems and Microsoft Office.
- Fast-paced and efficient, thrives in a busy, high-responsibility environment.
- Disciplined and self-motivated, especially important during service transformation.
- Excellent communication skills, essential for working with families and professionals.
- Experienced with EHCPs, understands the legal framework and practical application.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, works collaboratively with schools, health, and care services.
