We're recruiting an experienced HSE Manager to lead Health, Safety & Environmental activities at a key manufacturing site in Knaresborough. This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for driving compliance, embedding ISO 14001 & 45001 standards, and promoting a proactive safety culture across the site. The successful candidate will work closely with site leadership and group functions to deliver best-in-class HSE performance. Ideal for someone with a strong background in manufacturing, environmental systems, and UK regulatory compliance.
Duties & Responsibilities: - Develop, implement, and maintain the HSE Management System at site level.
- Lead initiatives to ensure continuous improvement of site HSE performance.
- Support and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications, including coordination of audits and corrective actions.
- Lead site activities related to regulatory permitting, waste management, and discharge monitoring.
- Conduct and review risk assessments (e.g., chemical, ergonomic, work-based) and support functional leaders in updating documents.
- Lead accident and incident investigations, root cause analysis, and development of corrective action plans.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure effective delivery of HSE-related training programs.
- Represent the site in external audits, inspections, and HSE forums.
- Provide regular updates to the site’s senior management team on HSE performance (monthly, quarterly, annually).
- Carry out periodic monitoring of worker exposure to hazardous substances.
- Advise on HSE aspects related to new product lines, equipment installations, and process changes.
- Authority to escalate any HSE non-compliance or regulatory breaches to site and corporate management.

- Proven experience in a similar HSE leadership role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong working knowledge of UK HSE legislation and ISO 14001/45001 standards.
- Experience in environmental compliance and fire risk/loss prevention management.
- Membership of IOSH (working towards CMIOSH desirable).
- Experience with corporate reporting and group-level HSE coordination.
