Court of Protection Fee Earner (Health & Welfare) - Mental Health Panel Member

Due to continued expansion and increasing demand, we are seeking a Court of Protection Fee Earner (Health & Welfare) who is also a Mental Health Panel Member to join our specialist team.

The Role

You will join a highly regarded Court of Protection team and manage your own varied caseload of Health & Welfare matters, including complex cases involving vulnerable individuals.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing a Court of Protection (Health & Welfare) caseload
• Applications under s.16 and s.21A of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
• Acting in Legal Aid funded matters, including use of CCMS
• Liaising with the Official Solicitor and other professionals
• Drafting applications, witness statements and court documentation
• Representing clients and providing clear legal advice
• Supporting and mentoring junior team members
• Contributing to the continued growth of the department

About You

We are looking for a solicitor, legal executive or paralegal who is passionate about Court of Protection work and committed to achieving the best outcomes for vulnerable clients.

You will ideally have:

• Mental Health Panel Membership
• Experience in Court of Protection - Health & Welfare work
• Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
• Experience managing your own caseload
• Legal Aid and CCMS experience (preferred)
• Excellent drafting, advocacy and client care skills
• A compassionate, professional and proactive approach
• Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
