QA/QC Inspecting Engineer

Context The role is part of MWH quality management structure focussing on delivering compliance through strong quality management which is a fundamental aspect of many of the projects MWH deliver. It is expected the post holder will communicate with all levels ensuring information, knowledge and learning is effectively shared both internally and when appropriate externally. The post holder has the responsibility of ensuring project relationships are continually strengthen through visible quality management which supports all stakeholder aims and objectives. The post holder will be a focal point providing knowledge, practical support and guidance on all matters quality related. Key purpose and responsibilities of the role include; Purpose * Communicate both MWH and client expectations throughout all tiers of the project including the supplier chain. * Ensure improvement initiatives based on client specified and implied requirements are driven into the project. * To develop and implement management procedures and software. * To conduct inspections, tests and document reviews in conjunction with the client representatives. * To ensure products fabricated by the company and its sub-contractors / suppliers meet the quality standards as described by the company, the client and industry standards. * To provide a main focal point for all welding, welding documentation and NDT inspections. * To generate, approve and maintain weld and NDT procedures, welder and NDT operator qualifications in accordance with relevant specifications. * To provide a focal point for internal and external matters relating to Quality, Compliance and Certification. * To generate and maintain company procedures and records ensuring compliance with the latest client, industry and national standards/specifications. * Implement the established compliance regime and project specific requirements. * Liaison with client quality representatives where necessary in order to support and achieve product acceptance and handover Responsibilities * To determine the inspection, test and compliance regime to be applied by reference to the project specifications and associated documents. * To review and approve documents for the execution of a project, liaising with the client to gain their input and acceptance. * Provide a focal point for the supply chain in relation to matters relating to Quality. * To maintain auditable records providing evidence of quality performance and improvement. * To investigate, resolve and implement corrective/preventative actions through improvement notices. * To provide a point of contact with the client when quality issues arise and resolve them in a timely cost-effective manner. * Ensure engagement with customers, suppliers and partners in accordance with M+W Core Leadership values. * Liaise with project management, production control, workshop supervision on matters regarding quality, welding and NDT issues. * Conduct visual inspections, NDT inspection and pressure/leakage test, in manufacture, on site and sub-contractors/suppliers premises. * Assist and oversee the generation and collection of weld inspection, NDT and test records resolving any issues with client management and inspection personnel. * Continually review all welding and NDT activities ensuring latest techniques are implemented as part of the continual review and improvement cycle. * To investigate, resolve and implement corrective and preventative actions relating to welding, NDT and quality issues. * Reporting performance to the Quality Manager on welding NDT requirements. * To investigate, resolve and implement corrective/correction/preventative actions relating to quality issues. * Compile Life Time Record (LTR) packages for client acceptance. * To oversee the generation and collation of MWH and supplier quality documentation, resolving any issues arising through to client acceptance. Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications Essential * Recognised quality management qualification. * Detailed knowledge of quality, environmental and health and safety standards and industry specifications for ductwork construction and associated ventilation equipment. * CSWIP 3.1 or PCN level II in welding inspection preferably 3.2 or Level III
