The Role:

A primary school in the BS30 area of Bristol is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is a full-time role, continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential to extend further.

You will work closely with both the classroom teacher and a child with special educational needs (SEN), providing one-on-one support and ensuring their educational and social development is nurtured within a supportive and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the teacher in planning and delivering engaging activities, both in and outside the classroom.
  • Provide consistent, tailored support to meet the individual needs of the child.
  • Help the child feel comfortable and confident in their learning environment.
  • Build a trusting and supportive relationship with the child.
  • Establish and maintain predictable routines to help reduce anxiety.
  • Communicate using clear, concise, and literal language.
  • Prepare the child in advance for any changes in routine.
