Laser Applications Engineer - UK Sales Support

OTE: £40,000 - £45,000 (dependent on experience)

A leading CNC machine tool provider is seeking a Laser Applications Engineer to join its UK Sales Support - Applications team. This position plays a key role in supporting the sales function, customer base, and internal teams through technical expertise in laser machining and associated technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Liaising effectively with the Applications Manager, sales team, customers and suppliers to define project requirements, budgets, and timescales at the proposal stage.

Planning and delivering bespoke laser cutting demonstrations.

Conducting in-depth demonstrations of laser NC control systems and CAM software.

Responding to technical telephone enquiries and providing timely support.

Actively participating in showroom activities, including:

Planning and running live demonstrations showcasing the latest laser machines, cutting strategies and partner technologies.

Preparing and executing demonstrations for exhibitions and events, both in the UK and internationally.

Assisting with customer training on machine operation, programming software, and NC control.

Managing and prioritising tasks effectively within a team environment.

Staying up to date with emerging technologies relating to laser machining, automation, CAD/CAM systems and cutting strategies.

Visiting customer sites to provide technical support to both sales and service teams.

Applying initiative and previous experience to deliver effective solutions.

Essential Experience:

Strong background in CNC laser machining

Knowledge of laser technologies and laser CAD/CAM software

Experience working with a range of materials and thicknesses in laser cutting

Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to a varied workload within a team setting

Desirable Experience:

HNC/HND in Engineering (or equivalent)

Completion of a Level 3 engineering apprenticeship

Experience with tube lasers and laser automation systems (beneficial but not essential)
