A new role requires a SEND TA / Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant for a Special Needs school in Shrewsbury.
The school is for students of various abilities, ranging from moderate learning difficulties to complex and profound needs MLD/SLD. The post requires a talented SEND Teaching Assistant who is flexible, enthusiastic, and dedicated to supporting children to join their team of supportive staff.
Due to the nature of the children attending the school the role will require previous experience working with SEMH and challenging behaviour needs; as well as an awareness of Health and Safety and First aid would be beneficial to ensure a safe welcoming classroom.
All applicants must be NVQ Level 3 qualified or equivalent and have a minimum of 6 months experience working with children with SEND requirements. The role will require integrating into the class and supporting the implementation of curriculum under the Teacher. Other key elements of the position included assisting the teacher with classroom preparation, 1:1 work with students who require additional support, leading group work and helping the class teacher with pupil observations. The school prefers candidates with Team Teach/ MAPA training if applicable.
