O'Neill & Brennan are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing construction, refurbishment and fit-out contractor delivering projects across London.

Operating both as a Main Contractor and specialist Fit-Out & Refurbishment Contractor, our client has built a strong reputation for quality delivery across commercial, residential, and mixed-use schemes.

Due to continued growth and an increasing project pipeline, they are seeking an experienced Head of Health & Safety to lead, develop and drive their health & safety strategy across the business.

The Role

As Head of Health & Safety, you will take full ownership of the company's H&S function, ensuring compliance, promoting best practice, and embedding a proactive safety culture across all live sites and office operations.

This is a senior leadership position with direct influence on operational performance and business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop the company-wide Health & Safety strategy

Ensure compliance with current UK legislation (including CDM Regulations)

Oversee RAMS, policies, procedures, and risk management systems

Conduct site audits and inspections across multiple London projects

Advise senior leadership and project teams on H&S best practice

Manage incident investigations and reporting

Drive continuous improvement and behavioural safety initiatives

Liaise with clients, consultants, and enforcing authorities

Lead and mentor any H&S team members

About You

Proven experience in a senior H&S leadership role within construction

Strong background working for a Main Contractor and/or Fit-Out contractor

In-depth knowledge of UK H&S legislation and CDM

NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification) - essential

Chartered Membership of IOSH (or working towards) - desirable

Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Commercially aware with the ability to influence at board level
