Company: NATIONAL HIGHWAYS

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: £30200 - £32800 per annum

About the role.

As part of the development of our Digital Services function, we are recruiting to strengthen internal digital capability within the Digital Technical Competence team. These roles are central to building sustainable in-house expertise that supports the design, development, and delivery of digital solutions across the transport network.

A key focus of this campaign is creating new opportunities. As a result, we are recruiting an Associate Delivery Manager. This is a pivotal role that will support the delivery of products and services by helping teams maintain momentum and focus. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will assist in removing blockers, facilitating agile practices, and promoting collaboration and continuous improvement. You'll develop your delivery management skills through hands-on experience, supported by guidance and mentorship, while contributing to the successful delivery of outcomes that matter.

This is a hybrid role, requiring two days per week in the office, based at any National Highways office location.

  • Support planning and coordination of delivery activities; help maintain cadence, visibility and momentum across the team.
  • Co‑facilitate agile ceremonies (daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives) and keep boards and artefacts up to date while promoting agile behaviours.
  • Help identify and remove blockers; escalate risks and issues to appropriate stakeholders promptly to keep delivery on track.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation and reporting on delivery progress, risks, dependencies and metrics.
  • Support compliance activities led by the Delivery Manager, learning how GDS/DDaT and National Highways standards apply in practice and preparing materials for service assessments.
  • Enable effective collaboration by supporting communication and reporting to stakeholders, suppliers and forums.

About you.

  • You build strong interpersonal relationships and manage stakeholders effectively.
  • You plan, organise, and manage work across the full delivery lifecycle.
  • You take a proactive approach, confidently raising risks, issues, and potential blockers early.
  • You apply a working understanding of Agile principles in day‑to‑day delivery.
  • You maintain delivery momentum and support teams to stay on track.
