About the Role

An established and reputable construction contractor based in Hereford is looking for an experienced Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join their team. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, combining office-based work with home working, and provides exposure to a wide variety of project sectors.

The position involves supporting both pre-construction and commercial functions across domestic, commercial, heritage, education, industrial, and small works projects.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare accurate cost estimates, tender submissions, and budgets

*

Analyse drawings, specifications, and project documentation

*

Prepare bills of quantities, schedules of work, and tender packages

*

Assess subcontractor and supplier quotations

*

Support procurement activities and contract negotiations

*

Provide commercial support throughout project delivery

*

Monitor costs, variations, and valuations

*

Prepare interim applications and final accounts

*

Collaborate closely with site and project teams to ensure effective cost control

*

Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating and commercial processes

Skills & Experience

*

Proven experience as an Estimator, Quantity Surveyor, or similar construction role

*

Strong technical knowledge of construction methods and materials

*

Ability to interpret drawings and technical documentation

*

Competent in estimating and QS software (e.g., Excel, digital take-off tools)

*

Excellent analytical, numerical, and organisational skills

*

Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders

*

Ability to manage workload independently within a hybrid work environment

*

Full UK driving licence (occasional site visits required)
