MERITUS are recruiting for an Inventory Controller to join our client in Stevenage on an initial 6 month contract to work on defence programmes.

INVENTORY CONTROLLER - INSIDE IR35 - £25.26 PER HOUR - STEVENAGE, ONSITE - 6 MONTHS - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS

This role is responsible for the control, handling, and management of inventory within a manufacturing and stores environment. It involves supporting production activities through effective stock management, kitting, and coordination of work packages to ensure manufacturing schedules and delivery targets are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage stock control and storekeeping activities, including shelf-life monitoring.

  • Ensure manufacturing areas are supplied with the correct materials in line with planned lead times and production schedules.

  • Carry out kitting activities to support manufacturing operations.

  • Handle packing duties, including the use of hand tools where required.

  • Receive, issue, and track tooling and materials.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within internal systems.

  • Support the loading and unloading of deliveries.

  • Monitor and control work packages within the manufacturing process.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Previous experience in a stores, inventory, or manufacturing control environment.

  • Ability to follow processes and instructions accurately.

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

  • Proactive approach with the ability to use initiative.

  • Flexible and adaptable, including willingness to work shift patterns.

  • Manual handling training (or willingness to obtain).

  • Lifting and slinging experience, including use of overhead cranes.

  • Awareness of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) procedures.

Desirable Skills:

  • Basic IT skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel.

  • Forklift truck licence.

  • Familiarity with Kanban or two-bin inventory systems.

  • Experience using ERP systems (e.g. SAP).
