DevOps Engineer 6 months Right to hire Harrisburg, PA Must to available to roll into a permanent position with no sponsorship after 6 months MUST BE IN DRIVING DISTANCE TO HARRISBURG, PA DevOps Team engineer contributes to the continuous improvement and standards definition of common processes that are implemented to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of software in our services. This role implements solutions that make the Agency s development process more efficient and continuous to align with state of the art continuous integration and deployment. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES DevOps Automation Oversight Automate build, release/deployment, manual processes and workflows. Perform a variety of technical and administrative duties in overall systems design, development, and delivery by supporting the project team needs related to DevOps. Ensure that software builds happen predictably, consistently and reliably. Manage risks and resolve issues that affect scope, schedule, and quality. Work in conjunction with DTS, engineering, and business groups to understand functionality, scalability, performance, security, and integration requirements. Support and improve our tools, infrastructure, and processes that support rapid and reliable delivery of high quality software to our production service. Advocate for improving our build and release toolchain. Support deployment activities of development and production releases including troubleshooting of release blockers such as infrastructure, configuration, and code. Develop and implement instrumentation for monitoring the health and availability of services including fault detection, alerting, triage, and recovery (automated and manual). Assist development of troubleshooting system and software issues in all environments. Work closely with development teams to create processes and tools that provide immediate feedback on source changes. Write effective documentation. Develop, improve, and thoroughly document operational practices and procedures. Manage and appropriately escalates delivery impediments, risks, issues, and changes associated to the product development initiatives. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Remain current on industry specific knowledge and emerging technology. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science or related field and two plus years of building and maintaining production systems on AWS using EC2, RDS, S3, ELB, Cloud Formation, etc. and familiarity interacting with AWS APIs or equivalent work experience or any combination of skills, experience with training and/or certification. Solid understanding of fundamental technologies like DNS, Load Balancing, SSL, TCP/IP, networking and security best practices. Experience analyzing and resolving performance, scalability and reliability issues. Strong interpersonal and communications skills. Understanding of Network & Switches, VPN, Direct Connect, Routing, Firewall. Knowledge of Hybrid Cloud environment and strong scripting skills. Experience of DevOps with AWS and good to have knowledge of tools like Jenkins, ANT, Maven, JIRA, Confluence, etc. Experience in monitoring and setting up alerting for Cloud components. Strong analytical skills to solve problems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred: DevOps certified solutions architect is a plus ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT Perform work required for this position in an office environment. Remain sedentary for significant periods of time. Must be able to communicate in both written and verbal formats (i.e. email, letters, etc.) Must be able to have a regular and predictable on-site attendance for a highly interactive role Must be able to use a personal computer.
