Aspiring Teacher Programme - South Manchester

Gain Classroom Experience Before You Train to Teach

Location: South Manchester
Position: Aspiring Teacher (Graduate Roles)
Start Date: Immediate starts available
Hours: Full-time or part-time (Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM)
Pay: £90-£100 per day

Overview

Are you a recent graduate thinking about a career in teaching? Whether you're planning to start a PGCE, SCITT or other teacher training course in the near future—or you're simply exploring your career options—Cover People's Aspiring Teacher Programme is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in secondary schools across South Manchester.

We work with mainstream secondary schools in South Manchester, Tameside, Trafford and Stockport to offer graduates valuable, real-world classroom experience. You'll work as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, or Mentor, gaining insights into behaviour management, student engagement, and lesson delivery.

Who We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from confident, enthusiastic individuals who:
• Have a passion for working with young people aged 11-16
• Are considering a future in education
• Want to gain practical experience before applying to teacher training courses
• Can communicate clearly, manage behaviour, and support learning in a classroom setting

Key Responsibilities

• Cover lessons in the absence of the class teacher
• Support engaging, interactive lessons
• Assist with classroom management and behaviour strategies
• Provide small group or one-to-one support
• Motivate and inspire students in a particular subject area
• Help create an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (minimum); Master's or PhD also welcomed
• A genuine interest in education and supporting young people
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Confidence to supervise classes and manage behaviour
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Cover People
• Previous experience working with children or in schools is a bonus, but not essential
