Our client is one of the region's most respected privately owned main contractors, with a strong reputation for delivering quality projects across the Midlands. With a proven track record in multi-room, residential, and education sectors, they are recognised for technical expertise, collaboration, and consistent project delivery.

Due to continued success and a healthy pipeline of secured work, they are now looking to appoint a Senior Design Manager to join their Birmingham team.

The Role

This is a senior position overseeing the design management process from early stages through to project completion. You'll work closely with project teams, clients, and consultants to ensure designs meet both commercial and technical expectations, while driving efficiency and maintaining buildability.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage the design function across multiple live projects

* Coordinate with external consultants and review technical information

* Ensure designs meet programme, cost, and quality targets

* Engage with clients, project teams, and local authorities throughout the design process

* Resolve design, compliance, or technical issues proactively and efficiently

* Lead design workshops and consultant meetings as required

About You

You are an experienced Design Manager ready to step into a senior role, or already operating at this level. You'll have a solid technical background and a thorough understanding of construction delivery, ideally gained in multi-room, residential, or education projects. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and drive projects forward.
