HGV Class 1 Driver – Solihull - Weekend

People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Solihull, West Midlands. This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a well-known supplier of household goods, offering ongoing weekend work and long-term opportunities.

Shifts

• Saturday and Sunday
• Start times between 05:00 and 11:00

Rates of Pay

• £18.00 per hour – Saturday
• £19.00 per hour – Sunday

Day-to-Day Duties

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, your duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Operating and driving Category CE vehicles safely and efficiently
• Completing store deliveries with handball required
• Carrying out pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Ensuring all loads are secured correctly
• Adhering to traffic laws and regulations
• Communicating effectively with dispatch and customers
• Maintaining accurate records of shipments, mileage, and fuel consumption
• Reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance needs
• Assisting with loading and unloading when required
• Completing up to three store deliveries or trunking work depending on the run

Essential Skills

To be successful as an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will need:

• Valid UK Category CE driving licence
• Minimum of 12 months’ experience driving CE vehicles
• Valid UK Driver CPC card and Digital Tachograph card
• No more than six penalty points and no major endorsement codes
• Good level of spoken and written English
• Experience operating various trailer types
• Excellent time-keeping and punctuality
• Strong communication skills
• Flexibility to work overtime when required
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience driving commercial vehicles

Training Provided

• Industry-related training
• Ongoing support throughout your employment
