Reed Accountancy are excited to be exclusively working with a Reading based client as they go through a period of growth and change within the business.Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-drive Accounts candidate to play a key role in strengthening their finance function. This hands-on position focuses on improving financial control, enhancing reporting quality, and supporting senior leadership with clear, actionable financial insight. You will be instrumental in developing scalable processes, delivering accurate financial reporting, and ensuring the smooth running of core finance operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records across all ledgers.
  • Lead purchase and sales ledger activity, including invoicing, reconciliations, and debtor management.
  • Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support month-end close activities, including P&L variance analysis and financial accuracy checks.
  • Produce management accounts schedules, KPI reports, and ad-hoc analysis for the leadership team.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects, system enhancements, and internal control frameworks.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation across the organisation.

You will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, proficiency with financial systems, and advanced Excel skills, enabling you to analyse and interpret financial data with accuracy.

You should have a solid understanding of transactional finance processes such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expenses, along with experience supporting month-end close and producing management reporting.

 Excellent organisational skills are essential, as the role requires managing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. You will be a clear communicator who can confidently translate financial information for non-finance colleagues, and ideally have experience contributing to budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation, or process improvement initiatives, including system enhancements such as Power Automate.
