Private Client Tax Assistant Manager – SouthamptonWe are recruiting for a
Private Client Tax Assistant Manager to join a leading accountancy and business advisory firm as part of their Tax team. This permanent opportunity offers an excellent salary, a 6% cash allowance (reviewed regularly based on performance), and a generous benefits package.
About the Role: This role within the Private Client Services team provides comprehensive UK tax compliance and advisory services to a wide range of regional, London-based, and international clients. The Assistant Manager will help drive the continued growth of the team, focusing particularly on advisory services for HNWIs and families, entrepreneurs, OMBs, private equity clients, and trusts with varied asset bases.You will manage a portfolio of clients—split between advisory and tax compliance at first, with the goal of transitioning toward more advisory-focused work. The role also includes assisting senior leadership in client work and team management, as well as involvement in business development and special assignments.
Key Responsibilities: - Act as a key point of contact for clients alongside Partners, responding proactively to client needs and maintaining strong communication.
- Take full responsibility for project delivery within your portfolio.
- Provide clear and practical advice on complex tax matters.
- Manage billing, cash collection, and workflow on your portfolio.
- Review work produced by junior staff.
- Liaise with HMRC on client matters.
- Ensure assignments meet budget and quality expectations.
- Identify technical issues and commercial opportunities.
- Support recruitment, team development, and mentoring of junior staff.
- Deliver training and performance feedback for team members.
About You: - Degree-qualified and/or CTA and/or ACA (or equivalent) qualified.
- Strong post-qualification experience in private client tax.
- Confident managing client relationships and complex tax issues.
- Effective leader and mentor to junior team members.
- Embraces continuous improvement and innovation.
- Takes ownership of decisions and outcomes.
