The RoleAs an Electronics Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development, enhancement and lifecycle support of advanced electronic sonar systems. Working within a collaborative engineering environment, you’ll contribute to both new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:- Designing and developing electronic products to meet defined technical specifications
- Creating schematics and multi-layer PCB designs, supported by modelling, simulation and validation testing
- Conducting testing, fault-finding, root cause analysis and repair of existing systems
- Participating in formal design reviews at key project milestones
- Producing and maintaining comprehensive product documentation (BoMs, Gerbers, fabrication drawings, assembly guides, test procedures and manuals)
- Supporting product validation activities, including acoustic measurement and performance verification
- Collaborating closely with Procurement, Manufacturing, Test and Quality teams
- Providing technical support to internal teams and international customers (occasional UK and overseas travel required)
- Liaising with third-party partners during design, prototyping and manufacturing phases
About YouYou will be a degree-qualified (or equivalent) Electronics Engineer with a minimum of three years’ experience designing electronic products and embedded PC systems.
You’ll bring hands-on experience in:- Mixed signal design incorporating SoC, FPGA, control and logic systems
- Switching power supplies and analogue amplifier design
- Isolated systems and high-power transducer driver stages
- System-level design and validation
Desirable Experience Exposure to the following would be advantageous:- C/C++, VHDL and associated development tools (e.g. Git)
- Altium Designer (schematic capture, PCB layout, SPICE simulation)
- Communication protocols including SPI, I2C, Ethernet/IP (TCP/UDP/ICMP), RS-232, JTAG, NMEA
- High-voltage systems (up to 400V DC)
- MATLAB and digital signal processing techniques
- Data acquisition systems and DSP methods (filtering, mixing, down-sampling)
- Use of laboratory test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analysers, spectrum analysers, power analysers, active loads, etc.)
