Food Safety Officer - North West
Contract: 6 months | Hours: 37 / week | Rate: DOE

We are seeking a Food Safety Officer to support the delivery of effective food safety regulation across the borough. The post holder will work with local food businesses to ensure compliance with food hygiene and safety legislation, helping to protect public health and improve standards.

Key responsibilities will include:

* Carrying out routine and risk‑based food hygiene inspections of a wide range of food premises

* Assessing compliance with relevant food safety legislation, guidance and council policies

* Providing advice, guidance and education to food business operators to support best practice

* Investigating food‑related complaints, food poisoning notifications and hygiene concerns

* Supporting enforcement activity where necessary, including formal interventions

* Maintaining accurate inspection records and reports in line with council procedures

* Contributing to proactive food safety initiatives and service improvement

This is an important frontline role that requires strong communication skills, sound judgment and a commitment to protecting public health
