The Contracts Manager role at BDB plays a central role in the successful delivery of design and build construction projects in the value of £2m - £20m, overseeing the contractual, design and operational elements from pre‑construction through to final handover. Acting as the key link between clients, project teams and subcontractors, the Contracts Manager ensures that all works are delivered safely, efficiently and in full compliance with contractual obligations and company standards.

In this role, you will manage projects simultaneously, ensuring each is resourced appropriately, progressing to programme and delivered within agreed financial parameters. You will provide strong leadership to Site Managers and project teams, promoting a culture of safety, collaboration and continuous improvement. A thorough understanding of construction processes (JCT forms), is essential, as is the ability to maintain excellent relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include reviewing contract documentation, identifying risks and opportunities, negotiating terms where required, and ensuring all contractual requirements are communicated clearly to project teams. You will oversee the preparation of project programmes, monitor progress against milestones, and proactively address any delays or issues. You will work closely with the commercial team.

A successful Contracts Manager will demonstrate strong leadership, communication and decision‑making skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities across live projects. You will champion best practice, support the development of site teams and ensure all works are delivered to a high standard of quality and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities • Lead the planning, delivery and completion of construction projects
• Manage contract compliance, design, risk identification and mitigation
• Oversee project programmes, resources and site performance
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
• Support commercial functions with variations, valuations and cost control
• Ensure all projects meet safety, quality and environmental standards
• Provide leadership and support to Site Managers and project teams
• Produce regular progress reports and attend client meetings

Skills & Experience • Good knowledge of JCT contracts
• Proven experience managing construction projects
• Excellent communication, negotiation and leadership skills
• Strong commercial awareness and problem‑solving ability
• Full UK driving licence
