Job Purpose:

To take responsibility for the Company's environmental strategies and development to meet legislative requirements. As a support role to the HSE Manager, the role includes:

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinating all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation, and renewable energy.
Implementing, monitoring and developing an environmental management system to meet the Company's environmental permit (IPPC).
Producing, implementing and auditing company environmental policies to meet current legislation.
Liaising with relevant bodies such as local authorities, public bodies and industry parties.
Collect information and analyse environmental impact data, risk assessments, producing reports and implementing environmental KPI targets.
Negotiate environmental service agreements and manage associated costs and revenues, including monitoring energy consumption for the company, producing regular reports and dealing with exceptions that have been identified.
Promote awareness to all levels of the organisation, including training on the emerging environmental issues including best practice to meet the company legislative, corporate, ethical and social responsibility.
Take an active role in leading the development of investment plans for the site operations and buildings to reduce on-going energy costs.
Work towards meeting targets for recycling and waste management.
Complete and submit environmental reports, both mandatory and voluntary, by deadlines using consistent methodologies.
As this role does involve interaction with the Technical Department, contribution in quality and technical aspects will be necessary.
Support the HSE Manager as required.
Any other duties as required by the Directors.
Essential

Excellent attention to detail with clear focus on end results.
Excellent record keeping (submitted reports, supplier data, waste transfer notes, etc)
Strong communication skills; being able to foster and maintain excellent working relationships.
Positive attitude possessing high levels of commitment, motivation and flexibility.
The ability to work in an analytical and structured manner.
Innovative and forward looking, seeking ways to constantly improve.
Possess the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Environmental (IPPC) knowledge
Environmental qualification (NEBOSH or IEMA)`
Desirable:

Internal auditing - environmental & other.

Awareness of sustainability principles and environmental regulations relating to dairy/F & D industry.

Ability to produce yearly internal carbon footprints based on internally established method/spreadsheet.
Awareness of accreditation standards such as BRC & ISO 14001.
Ability to make cost projections for environmental activities and fees.
Advise on environmental best practice for business matters.
Related environmental training or degree in a relevant discipline
Health and Safety training
Quality/Technical systems experience
