Senior Mechanical Engineer - Lead a Major Project from Start to Finish

Salary: Excellent salary and package - travel and lodge provided if required

Be the driving force behind a landmark project.

We're looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to take full ownership of the mechanical delivery on a major new scheme starting late 2025. This is an opportunity to step into a brand-new role, leading the project from the earliest planning stages right through to completion.

You'll join an experienced and supportive team, working alongside a Project Director who will give you the freedom to shape and lead the mechanical package from cradle to grave.

About Us

Mech Electrics Limited is a specialist recruitment company dedicated to providing skilled engineering and commercial professionals to major projects within the built environment.

We're working closely with one of our key & valued clients, a highly respected contractor with a strong pipeline of complex, high-value projects. This role has been created specifically to bring in a dedicated mechanical lead to ensure this project's success.

What We're Looking For

We need someone with a strong track record of delivering MEP projects within the built environment, ideally with overall project values exceeding £8M.

*

If you've worked for a larger contractor, you should have experience acting as the mechanical lead on complex, high-value projects.

*

If you've been with a smaller contractor, managing full turnkey MEP projects as a Project Manager, we'd love to hear from you too — especially if you're ready to focus purely on mechanical delivery for a major scheme.

This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a role where you can make a huge impact and take complete ownership of the mechanical side of the project.

The Role

*

Take charge of all mechanical works, from early planning and design coordination through to project handover

*

Ensure every stage of the project meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance with UK regulations and client requirements

*

Collaborate with design teams and clients to refine and optimise designs, creating safe, efficient, and practical solutions

*

Manage key project processes, including progress tracking, risk management, change control, and quality assurance

*

Lead, mentor, and support the mechanical team, setting clear expectations and fostering a collaborative, positive environment

*

Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and colleagues, ensuring excellent communication and smooth problem-solving

*

Keep the project on track financially and programme-wise, delivering on time, on budget, and in line with commercial and quality targets

*

Maintain accurate records and documentation for all mechanical works, using strong decision-making to balance technical, commercial, and safety needs

*

Promote a proactive health and safety culture, ensuring safe working practices are a priority across the site

What's on Offer

*

Excellent salary and package

*

Travel and lodge provided for candidates who live further afield but are happy to stay away during the week

*

The chance to join a highly skilled, supportive team on a project you'll be proud to deliver

*

A genuine opportunity to shape the role, leading the mechanical delivery from start to finish
