Description

Reporting to the Executive Manager, the Building Services Manager (Electrical) will be responsible for various projects including commercial, retail and industrial electrical projects for values between £10,000 and £750,000.

With assistance from the experienced onsite teams you will oversee and undertake the day to day running of multiple projects/sites with the expectation that you will be based at our Peterborough Branch when not visiting sites or have appointments.

The Building Services Department undertakes their projects from start to finish and this involves estimating, project management and commission and client handover.

The primary role of the Electrical Project Manager will be ensuring that the allocated projects are run efficiently and profitably ensuring full compliance to Health & Safety legislation and contract conditions. The most critical conditions being that all work is completed to a high standard, in a safe working manner, within programme and to the total satisfaction of our client.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

All aspects associated with the role of a qualified (NVQ City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installations or equivalent) electrical engineer with proven experience of estimating.

Estimating/tendering and submitting pricing documents.

Overseeing, managing and training of office based and on site personnel.

Understanding of the contract design and construction drawings.

Relay/discuss relevant information with the client, their agent or on-site personnel.

Managing specialist commercial and industrial nominated sub-contractors.

Enforcing and monitoring Health & Safety practices and CDM Regulations on site.

Attendance of regular site meetings with client, Architect, Quantity Surveyor, Planning Supervisor etc.

Preparation of contactor's reports for site meetings, contract programmes and progress reports.

Pricing and agreeing instructions with the client or client's agent.

Formulating valuations and final accounts.

Monitor and report on job profitability.

Ensuring that all specific materials ordered are received on or before their due delivery dates.

To verify and authorise trade operatives time sheets on a weekly basis.

To identify and implement improvements to any aspect of the service that we provide.

Procurement of new clients and suppliers.

Ensure that exceptional levels of customer care are provided at all times.

Regular use of our bespoke computer system and other software packages such as Word, Excel and Project.

Professional development of engineers.

This is a full time position and hours of work will be 42 hours per week.

07:45hrs to 17:15hrs Monday - Thursday

07:45hrs to 16:45hrs Friday

This will also involve daily travel and possible working away from time to time as deemed necessary for the needs of the business.

We undertake contracts and projects for varied companies that require our employees to undertake various clearances along with an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service clearance.

Essential Requirements

NVQ City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Installations (or equivalent)

18th Edition Amendment 2 Certification

2391 (or equivalent) Inspection, Testing and Certification

Experience of working within a similar environment including electrical installations & project management

Experience of technical knowledge of commercial and industrial installations within the electrical sector

Experience of managing teams and excellent communication skills

Exceptional leadership skills

Competent in the use of a range of IT packages

Proficient in Health and Safety legislation and compliance

Self-motivated and proactive

Positive attitude and the ability to integrate and be an active part in the team

Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise to meet deadlines

You must hold a full current UK driving licence and have had driving experience for over 6 months since passing your test and live within an hour of the Peterborough area.

Successful applicants are required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, Prison CTC clearance and Enhanced Police clearance.
