Salary: Grade 5 £26,835 - £30,060 pro rata / £23,287 - £26,086 actual
37 hours per week
· Term time plus training days (39 weeks per year)
Mon – Thurs 8.30am – 4.30pm
· Fri 8.30am – 4.00pm (with a half hour unpaid break)
Some flexibility required for evening and weekend events

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and enthusiastic Performing Arts Technician to join a vibrant and creative secondary school in Milton Keynes, rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted. This is a permanent, part-time position ideally suited to someone with a passion for the performing arts and a strong technical background.
The successful candidate will support the Drama, Music and PE departments with technical and practical assistance across lessons, performances, and whole school events. The role involves preparing and maintaining equipment, operating lighting and sound desks, video editing, and assisting with the planning and running of performances both on and off site. Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends is essential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing technical support for school productions and practical examinations
- Operating and maintaining ETC lighting desks and sound systems
- Supporting students with technical theatre, music and media projects
- Assisting in the editing of video and audio footage for assessment purposes
- Supporting extra-curricular clubs and whole-school events
- Helping staff deliver practical PE lessons and preparing for sports fixtures
- Managing resources, equipment and stock across performance areas
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience working in theatre or live event environments, ideally with young people
- Be confident operating lighting and sound equipment
- Have video editing and filming skills
- Be proactive, organised and able to work independently
- Be keen to make a positive difference to student experiences
