Graduate Technical Sales Engineer

Reports to: Operations Manager

This role would be office based and is an internal sales role. Due to the technical nature of the products we specify and sell, we require an individual who is technically qualified.

Job Summary

  • CAD Design using in house software

  • Receiving new enquiries from customers

  • Finding solutions using a wide array of products

  • Compiling and sending quotations to customers

  • Following up on quotations and providing customer feedback to the Sales Manager

  • Answering technical questions

  • Providing customers with pre and after-sales advice

  • Carrying out on site surveys

  • Producing and editing AutoCAD drawings

  • Handling of orders and managing contracts

Key Skill Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Self motivated and pro-active in pursuit of goals

  • Pragmatic and solution focussed

  • Organised

  • Good computer skills

  • Excellent telephone manner 

Qualification Requirements

  • HNC / HND in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering

  • Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering would be an advantage

  • Any qualifications with thermal design would be an advantage

Experience Requirements

  • Previous sales experience would be an advantage

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.) is essential

  • Any experience with thermal design and / or heat exchangers would be an advantage


Customer Sales and Marketing

  • Take customer enquiries by telephone, e-mail and fax

  • Prepare quotations for customers ensuring the quotes are accurate and realistic

  • Research the market and the product base

  • Maintain an excellent knowledge of the products

  • Be responsible for seeking out and contacting potential new customers

  • Prepare sales and marketing reports as required by Sales Manager and the board

  • Identify trends in product sales and advise board of same

  • Maintain knowledge of competitor products and advertising strategies

Contract Management

  • Check customer purchase orders prior to acceptance.Contacting the customer in some instances for clarification of the order requirements if these details are not clear or ambiguous.

  • Entering new purchase orders into Contracts Management Software and liasing with Contracts Manager

  • The preparation of and sending to the customer contract documentation such as order confirmations, o/m manuals, sequence sheets, drawings and data sheets. etc.

Customer Service

  • Maintain a high standard of communication with customers and potential customers

  • Maintain a good rapport with customers and potential customers

  • Respond to customer complaints quickly and fairly, following company policy

Team Working

  • Share knowledge and experience with rest of team

  • Maintain good working relationships with co-workers

  • Be punctual and reliable

  • Work collaboratively as required

  • Meet deadlines and agreed targets
