Plant Operator

Location: Wissington CO₂ Plant
Department: Production & Mechanical Maintenance
Reports To: Facility Manager

As a Plant Operator at the Wissington CO₂ Plant, you will play a key role in maintaining the reliability, efficiency, and safety of the production site. You will oversee plant operations and perform mechanical maintenance to ensure uninterrupted, high-quality production within all environmental, safety, and cost parameters.

Key Responsibilities

* Ensure all site activities are carried out safely and in line with company and legal standards.

* Monitor and adjust operating parameters to maintain optimal production rates and efficiency.

* Respond quickly to alarms or process upsets, resolving issues safely and efficiently.

* Oversee contractors on-site, including issuing work permits and providing induction training.

* Perform routine operational tasks and quality checks.

* Ensure maintenance work is properly risk-assessed and executed safely.

* Take primary responsibility for routine maintenance and repair of process equipment, supporting contractors as required.

* Contribute to mechanical operations in alignment with budget, schedule, and purchasing processes.

* Develop and oversee the mechanical maintenance program, including pressure equipment.

* Coordinate daily tasks for the mechanical department.

* Supervise and evaluate subcontractor technical services.

* Manage spare parts for the department.

* Identify technical anomalies and propose preventive actions to improve reliability and product quality.

* Participate in mechanical standby/guard duties as required.

Authority

During on-call periods, the Plant Operator has full authority over all mechanical maintenance activities within the scope of the on-call management framework.

Skills & Qualifications

* Completion of relevant technical training and authorizations.

* Solid understanding of AL techniques.

* Trained in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) related to CO₂ operations.

* Food Safety and HACCP awareness training.

* Strong problem-solving, technical, and decision-making skills.

* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
