Ward Manager – Palliative Care | Up to £49,500 | 37.5 Hours per week

Our client, a well-respected hospice service is looking for an experienced Ward Nurse Manager to lead a dedicated inpatient team providing outstanding palliative and end-of-life care. This position is ideal for a Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a solid background in palliative care and experience managing clinical teams. As a Ward Nurse Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of a well-established hospice ward. You will ensure safe, effective, and person-centred care delivery, while supporting the professional development of the team and upholding the highest clinical standards.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with active NMC registration
  • Demonstrable experience in palliative care or hospice settings
  • Experience managing a clinical team, preferably within an inpatient or ward environment
  • Strong clinical leadership and decision-making skills
  • Palliative care qualification or willingness to complete a recognised course
  • Commitment to delivering person-centred care with dignity and respect

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the clinical team across the hospice ward
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, compassionate palliative and end-of-life care
  • Mentor, coach, and support nursing staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning
  • Oversee patient care planning, risk management and safe staffing levels
  • Contribute to quality assurance and service development initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners
