Estimator - Specialist Fit Out Subcontractor

Location: Romford, Essex
Salary: £60K - £65k + Perks + Early Friday Finishes
Full-time | Permanent

Are you an experienced Estimator with a background in fit out or subcontracting - who doesn't take themselves too seriously? Want to work for a company where banter, bacon rolls, and building success all go hand-in-hand?

Our client is a long-established, family-run subcontractor specialising in painting, decorating, spray plaster, and specialist paint floors across the high-end commercial fit out market in The City of London. With clients like Overbury, Parkeray and Mace their projects range from £200K to £5M.

They've been going strong for over 25 years, with a turnover of £20M and a packed pipeline heading into 2025. As the business grows, they're looking to add a new Estimator to their close-knit commercial team.

Day-to-Day Duties:

* Use on-screen take-off to measure jobs accurately

* Build pricing using pre-defined schedules of rates

* Work alongside another Estimator, Senior Surveyors and report to the Commercial Manager

* Read and interpret drawings to identify spec requirements for detailed commercial fit out projects

* Support tender submissions and ensure competitive, accurate pricing

* Contribute to a fast-paced, high-energy team environment

Required Skills & Experience:

* Estimating experience in a subcontracting environment, ideally fit out trades

* Familiarity with fit out projects (painting, plaster, or specialist finishes is a bonus)

* Ability to read construction drawings and identify relevant packages/specs

* Strong attention to detail with solid Excel and measurement software skills

* A sense of humour, thick skin, and a team-first attitude!
