Job Title: Freelance Supervisor - Earthworks
Location: Tuddenham, Norfolk
Start Date: ASAP (Target start: 09/03/2026)
Contract Duration: 12 Months
Rate: £26 per hour
Hours: 10 hours per day (increasing to 12 hours per day in March)
Weekly Hours: 50-70 hours per week
Weekend Work: Saturdays available (not essential)

Role Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Supervisor with strong earthworks experience to join a long-term infrastructure project based in Tuddenham, Norfolk. This is a 12-month freelance contract offering consistent hours and the opportunity for increased shifts from March onwards.
This role is freelance only and not available on a permanent or PAYE basis.
The successful candidate will oversee earthworks operations on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Supervising earthworks activities including bulk excavation, cut & fill, and ground preparation

Managing site operatives and subcontractors

Ensuring compliance with health & safety legislation and site procedures

Overseeing safe digging practices and service avoidance

Monitoring productivity and maintaining programme targets

Conducting site briefings and toolbox talks

Coordinating plant, labour and materials effectively

Essential Requirements

Proven experience supervising earthworks operations (essential)

SMSTS or SSSTS (essential)

EUSR certification (essential)

CAT & Genny trained (essential)

CSCS Gold Card (essential)

Strong understanding of safe systems of work and service detection

Ability to commit to 50-70 hours per week
