Social Worker - Permanence Team

The Permanence Team is seeking a Social Worker to support children looked after by the Local Authority with adoption care plans, ensuring they achieve long-term stability. You'll build positive, meaningful relationships with children, families, and carers, keeping each child at the centre of planning and decision-making.

We're looking for someone with experience working with looked after children - whether in a LAC team, safeguarding, court work, or similar areas of children's services. This is a fast-paced role where you'll work closely with the Children in Care Service and partner agencies to deliver the best outcomes for our young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake court work and contribute to permanency planning.
  • Use evidence-based interventions with children, families, and carers.
  • Manage a varied caseload, responding to duty and prioritising effectively.
  • Build strong working relationships and respond appropriately to conflict.
  • Work autonomously while seeking guidance where needed.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, including CPRs (Child Permanence Reports).

About You

  • Qualified Social Worker (degree/diploma) registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience working with Children in Care and familiarity with adoption processes.
  • Motivated, organised, and committed to ongoing professional development.
  • This role requires an enhanced DBS and Barred List check.

Benefits

  • SWE registration paid.
  • £4,000 welcome bonus and up to £8,000 relocation package.
  • Retention bonus for established staff.
  • 28 days annual leave + bank holidays, increasing after 5 years.
  • Local Government Pension Scheme with life cover and ill-health protection.
  • Option to buy up to 25 extra days' leave.
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Discounts with retailers, leisure, travel, and more.
  • Flexible and family-friendly working options.
  • Supportive management and excellent learning & development.
  • Access to subsidised town-centre parking.

If you thrive to make a difference and have 3 years Social worker experience and this is the role for you, then we would love to hear from you.
