SUMMARY: The roles of DataCenterTechnician/Field Technicianinclude the operations and maintenance of service delivery equipment, managed customer equipment, and the on-site installation and troubleshooting of monitoring nodes at customers locations.
Experience in the IT field
Experience working with a ticket system
Valid Drivers License
Flexible schedule (Weekend and after-hours as needed)
Knowledge of basic networking concepts and troubleshooting practices. Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, SNMP, HTTP and utilities such as ping, traceroute, mtr and telnet
Experience contacting network carriers to report circuit outages. (Verizon, Level3, etc.)
Basic understanding of modern day cabling standards and best practices (Cat5e, Cat6, Single-Mode/Multi-Mode Fiber)
Familiar with the following hardware platforms and technologies: Dell and HP servers, Cisco, Brocade, and Juniper switches and routers, Windows Server, Linux, VMware, Equallogic, NetApp, Barracuda
Candidate will be expected to:
Field trouble tickets to facilitate problem resolution via email, phone and on-site visits by customers to AMC’s Internet Data Centers.
Dispatch to AMC remote (non-office) locations to perform maintenance activities and provide assistance
Dispatch to customer locations to install and troubleshoot equipment
Perform basic data center maintenance and cleanup including breaking down boxes, taking out refuse
Excellent Communication Skills a MUST!
Commitment to problem resolution
Comfortable working under pressure and able to complete time sensitive tasks quickly and efficiently
Experience communicating time sensitive information directly to Customers
Experience working with ticketing / workorder systems
Comfortable working with a smartphone
Familiarity with basic hand and power tools.
Flexible hours with a base of “Monday - Friday, 9AM to 6PM with a 1hr lunch break.” Adjustments will be made for customer installations requiring after-hours and weekend dispatches.
