JOB TYPE: Permanent

SALARY: £27000 - £30000/annum

Transport Controller Role - Swindon - Swing Sifts (6am till 14:30pm 14:00pm till 22:30pm)

* Ensure a comprehensive shift handover is completed with the Transport Controller on the previous shift.

* Conduct daily briefings and de briefings for the drivers, liaising with the Transport Manager as appropriate. Ensure driver signatures are obtained and paperwork returned.

* Ensure all company processes and procedures are carried out on site.

* Monitor the daily operational plan, responding appropriately to any delays or issues.

* Ensure departure / arrival schedule is kept up to date, and that routes leave at agreed departure times.

* Ensure all customer requirements are scheduled, and that vehicles and trailers are allocated to the correct routes.

* Ensure the transport management system is continuously updated and all data is entered promptly and accurately.

* Ensure all drivers complete daily pre-shift inspections (vehicle checks) and that all relevant information is properly recorded.

* Make sure drivers report all defects, damages and accidents, ensuring all relevant paperwork is completed as necessary. Report all findings to the Fleet Supervisor and Transport Manager.

* Ensure full compliance is met regarding driver's hours, tachograph and road traffic regulations, ensuring all drivers tachographs are downloaded on a daily basis.

* Control and inform drivers of tachograph infringements and ensure that they are completed and correctly signed.

* Report any short shipments / blowouts, ensuring all details are accurately recorded.

* Liaise with sub-contractors and driver's vendors as and when required.

* Ensure any customer issues are reported to the Transport Manager and Logistics Department as appropriate.

* Monitor the real time performance of the drivers and the fleet, escalating any areas of non- compliance.

* Ensure any areas of non-compliance or failure/vehicle breakdown are escalated promptly.

* Conduct regular driver license checks.

* Control and manage booking for container work as and when required, ensuring container records are up to date and accurate.

* Ensure all office administration is completed in an accurate and timely manner.

* Facilitate the maintenance of the fleet, ensuring all drivers keep their vehicles clean and tidy.

* Ensure all vehicles and trailers are made available for their service and MOT's.

* Ensure all handsets and driver packs are correctly allocated, returned and maintained.

* Continuously communicate with internal and external colleagues, ensuring any issues are dealt with promptly. Forward relevant information to the Transport Manager.

* Arrange delivery and collection of vehicles as required to rental suppliers including any due inspections.

* Provide flexible cover to support the department, working additional compulsory hours as and when required.

The salary is £27,971.84 + £240 monthly shift premium
