Duration: Temporary initially with a view to go temp to perm after around 3 months

Polytec are looking for skilled R & D Technicians to join our Cambridge based client. The successful candidates will support laboratory-based research, prototype development and testing activities. This is a hands-on role suited to technicians with strong mechanical skills who enjoy working in a collaborative engineering environment.

Responsibilities

* Assembly, setup, maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanicall systems and test rigs
* Supporting experimental testing including test rig operation and accurately recording data
* Maintaining laboratory equipment, tools and consumables
* Manual machining of one-off parts
* Ensuring health & safety and quality procedures are followed
* Working closely with engineers to support ongoing R&D programmes

Requirements

* A formal engineering qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience
* Minimum 3 years' experience in an R & D, engineering or industrial environment
* Strong practical skills in mechanical systems
* Experience working with workshop equipment
* Proactive, flexible approach with strong attention to detail
