Protocol Education is working with a welcoming Gateshead primary school to recruit a nurturing SEND Support Assistant within Early Years. This role is ideal for graduates with limited experience who bring energy, patience, and a natural ability to build rapport with young children.
What your day-to-day will look like: You’ll be supporting children with additional needs in a play-based learning environment. Your day may involve helping pupils settle into routines, supporting communication and language development, and working 1:1 or in small groups. You’ll assist with activities such as phonics, sensory play, and outdoor learning, while also supporting emotional regulation and social interaction. Building trust is key — your ability to form positive relationships will directly impact each child’s confidence and progress.
Working hours:
- Monday to Friday
- 8:30am – 3:30pm
- Term-time only
