DoLS Team Manager to lead the delivery of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguard
s across the local authority. The successful candidate will ensure the Council meets its statutory responsibilities as a supervisory body, manage a team of Best Interests Assessors (BIAs), and drive high quality, strengths based, person centred social care practice that upholds the rights and wellbeing of adults with care and support needs JOB DESCRIPTIONThe duties and responsibilities of the role will include:
- Leading and managing the DoLS team to ensure timely, outcome focused Best Interests Assessments.
- Promoting and embedding strengths based, person centred practice across the team.
- Providing clear, responsive leadership to ensure compliance with the Mental Capacity Act, associated legislation, and case law.
- Managing team performance, supervising staff, and ensuring continuous professional development.
- Monitoring team budgets, ensuring best value, and managing resources effectively.
- Championing safeguarding practices and ensuring compliance with Making Safeguarding Personal principles.
- Working in partnership with internal departments and external agencies to ensure high quality service delivery.
- Supporting hybrid team working in line with corporate policies
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATEThe successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:
- A relevant degree/diploma in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
- A Best Interests Assessor qualification with at least 2 years’ experience conducting DoLS assessments.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, ideally within a social care setting.
- In-depth knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, DoLS legislation, and safeguarding frameworks.
- Excellent communication, decision making, and problem solving abilities.
- A commitment to promoting independence, wellbeing, and high standards of practice
