Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary Youth Justice service officer to work within Oxfordshire County council.

This position is a temporary Role for 1 month with the possibility to be extended and pays from £20.31 to £21.98 Per hour (PAYE) or from £25.90 to £28.03Per day (Umbrella).

The Role:

As a Youth Justice & Exploitation practitioner within Oxfordshire's Youth Justice and Exploitation Service you will supervise a caseload of children subject to out-of-court disposals and Court Orders, and be responsible for assessing and managing need and risk in line with the YJB's National Standards and Case-Management guidance and relating legislative frameworks. The role includes assessment, planning, report-writing and intervention delivery directly with children and families, as well as some participation in group work when appropriate. The main aim of the role is to supervise children in line with YJB and HMIP guidance and frameworks, whilst maintaining a strong focus on desistance and strengths-based practice, to ensure the children of needs and voices of children, families and those harmed through youth crime are heard. Knowledge of child safeguarding and public protection is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

      To undertake assessments using the YJB mandated assessment and planning framework; assessing risk and need and formulating developmentally appropriate and desistance-focused plans to build on identified strengths and reduce offending risk.

Ensure that all work maximises children's participation and is delivered in accordance with children's rights and entitlements.

To write reports for the Magistrates and Crown Courts and Referral Order Panels.

Case-manage children subject to out-of-court disposals, Court Bail packages, Court Orders in the community and on remand/custodial sentences within the youth secure estate. Ensure all work is delivered in accordance with YJB Standards for Children & Case Management Guidance & internal YJES and OCC processes and procedures.

Ensure principles of restorative justice underpin all aspects of the work undertaken with young people and their families.

To act as Court Officer within the Youth Court and Crown Courts as part of the Court and Bail rotas.

To develop and maintain thorough knowledge of youth justice legislation and effective practice and to contribute to the monitoring, research, and evaluation of services.

Applicant Requirements:

Qualifications: NVQ level 5 or above and its equivalent in youth Justice, social work, probation, police, Health

Experience: 2 years' experience of direct work with challenging and vulnerable young people. Recent experience of  case management within Criminal Justice.

Compliance: 3 years references. Enhanced DBS

Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
