Overview:

Unify are thrilled to be supporting a well-established national plant hire company in their search for an experienced Plant Workshop Manager to take responsibility for several workshop sites in the South West.

In this role you will lead a team of workshop supervisors, plant fitters and support staff to ensure the efficient repair, maintenance and readiness of a large plus varied fleet of plant equipment.

What do I need?

* Experience managing plant or heavy equipment workshops (multi-site preferred).

* Strong technical knowledge of plant machinery

* Excellent leadership and people management skills.

* A solid understanding of health and safety practices and legislation.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and workshop systems.

* A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Workshop Management

* Oversee the daily operations of multiple plant workshops.

* Ensure all equipment is maintained, repaired, and ready for hire on time.

* Standardise procedures across all sites to ensure consistent quality.

* Work closely with internal teams to coordinate workshop output with customer delivery schedules.

Technical Oversight

* Lead diagnostics, inspections and repairs for all plant machinery.

* Maintain records of all safety checks, servicing and certifications.

* Manage parts stock to avoid delays and unnecessary surplus.

Cost Control

* Monitor workshop budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.

* Ensure chargeable damage is correctly reported and processed.

Customer Service & Collaboration

* Act as the main point of contact for any workshop-related service issues.

* Work closely with sales, hire desk and customer support teams to ensure high service standards

* Support and develop your team with training and clear performance goals.

* Carry out performance reviews and plan for ongoing development.

* Encourage a strong safety culture and continuous improvement mindset.

Performance Monitoring

* Track workshop KPIs, such as repair times and plant availability.

* Identify ways to improve workshop efficiency and fleet reliability.

Desirable:

* IOSH or NEBOSH certification

* Experience using Syrinx or similar systems
