Specialist Teacher (SEND / SEMH)

We are working with a Local Authority that is looking for several Specialist Teachers of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND / SEMH) in the Southend area.

Salary: £46,586 - £51,763 (depending on experience).

Location: Southend of the Sea, Essex. (predominately school based, some working from home and office)

Start Date: ASAP

Job Purpose:

Provide specialist support, advice and guidance to schools, parents and colleagues in the development of inclusive strategies and interventions for students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Assess the needs of children and young people with SEND through early identification and intervention (when required).
Provide support, advice and guidance to schools and settings to improve provision and outcomes and wellbeing for children and young people with SEND/SEMH needs.
Support and deliver modelling and training to schools and settings, and where appropriate, professionals and partner agencies on SEND matters.
Contribute to service and policy development.Key Responsibilities:

Deliver high-quality support for children and young people with SEMH/SEND needs.
Conduct specialist SEMH assessments.
Advise schools/settings on early identification, intervention, and inclusive practices.
Design and implement bespoke intervention programmes (emotional regulation, social skills, resilience).
Develop and monitor behaviour management plans.
Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
Provide advice, training, and signposting to families and carers.
Lead and deliver training and CPD for schools and settings.
Support schools in improving outcomes and inclusive practice.
Stay updated on SEND/SEMH legislation and policy.
Contribute to service development, quality assurance, and performance review processes.
Work with Southend City Council, schools, settings, and partner agencies to promote inclusion.
Act as a professional point of contact for advice and support.
Operate within the safeguarding framework, promoting the well-being of children and young people.Essential:

QTS Qualified.
Minimum of 8-10 yrs teaching experience
Must have leadership experience eg Senco, or Specialist experience such as running a provision, ARP, Unit, Special School.*We offer a market leading referral scheme of up to £350 so if you know of someone who may also be looking for an exciting career opportunity*
