What you will do:
As a Management Accountant, you will play an integral role in supporting a broad portfolio of organisational projects. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with stakeholders to develop business cases that support major initiatives, as well as guiding project teams through complex funding requirements and processes. You will prepare and present financial reports for senior stakeholders, helping to ensure transparency and informed decision-making. Monthly engagement with project managers will be key, where you will review financial performance, update forecasts, and identify risks and opportunities. You will also support process improvements, particularly around funding and grant submissions, ensuring efficiency while maintaining strong financial controls. In addition, you will coordinate cash flow forecasting with project teams and contribute to annual budgeting processes, including both capital and revenue planning. Your ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders will be essential throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop and review business cases for revenue and capital projects, including sensitivity analysis
- Supporting project teams with funding strategies, ensuring alignment with available funding streams and requirements
- Preparing and submitting funding and grant claims in line with agreed timelines and compliance standards
- Producing regular financial reports for senior forums, clearly explaining variances and key insights
- Leading the development and documentation of financial processes for new projects and programmes
- Conducting monthly reviews with project stakeholders to update forecasts and support decision-making
- Supporting risk management processes, ensuring financial risks and opportunities are identified and communicated effectively
- Providing support for year-end processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and reporting requirements
- Coordinating cash flow forecasts and supporting consolidated financial planning activities
What you will bring:
- Proven experience in management accounting, budgeting, and forecasting within a complex organisation
- Strong understanding of financial management principles across capital and/or revenue projects
- Advanced Excel skills and experience using financial or management information systems
- Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve financial challenges
- Experience supporting decision-making through insightful financial analysis
- Experience working with large and complex data sets
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA), with post-qualification experience preferred
