As a Tenancy Sustainment Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the effective management and resolution of anti-social behaviour, Hate Crime and safeguarding incidents within our communities; along with management of complex tenancy sustainability cases such as Hoarding and domestic abuse.  The core focus of the team is on preventing tenancy breakdown, working on a case management basis, with a strong focus on prevention and resolution of serious and complex ASB and neighbourhood issues.

The Tenancy Sustainment Offer requires a proactive and flexible approach to address challenging cases, focused on supporting customers to resolve tenancy breaches which often need a nuanced, multi agency approach; whilst contributing to the broader goal of creating safer and more harmonious communities.


• Keeping up to date with changes in housing legislation, best practice, policies, and

procedures, proactively sharing with colleagues


• Collaborating with internal and external colleagues and partner agencies to address complex anti-social behaviour, hate crime & domestic abuse cases, as well as safeguarding, hoarding and other support related tenancy breaches. In particulary considering action plans and initiatives contributing to wider ASB and crime reduction


• Ensure safeguarding issues are addressed as part of a multi-agency approach, mitigating risks with regard to customers impacted by anti-social behaviour and perpetrators 


• Attend relevant meetings and community engagement forums as directed by the Tenancy Sustainment Manager


• Draft and serve legal notices, prepare court applications, and give evidence in court and in some instances present cases in court


• Take a personal lead on specific projects to reduce or address Anti-Social Behaviour issues within communities


• Arrange and/or attend meetings within areas that are experiencing ASB and provide support and guidance to customers, including out of hours where required

What’s essential:


• Willingness to study towards a professional housing qualification

Experience and Knowledge


• Good understanding of housing and tenancy law, the rights and responsibilities of social

housing landlords and tenants, as well as how tenancies are ended


• Experience managing ASB cases in a social housing environment


• Experience recognising and responding to risks to individuals, such as safeguarding and

domestic abuse


• Strong knowledge of Landlord and Tenant law and tenancy enforcement

Personal qualities


• Resilience to deal empathetically and professionally with challenging conversations and

unexpected issues

What’s desirable:


• Experience preparing cases for legal action and/or presenting in Court


• Housing qualification, CIH level 2 or 3 or willingness to study towards this qualification, you will play a vital role in ensuring the effective

management and resolution of anti-social behaviour, Hate Crime and safeguarding incidents

within our communities; along with management of complex tenancy sustainability cases such as

Hoarding and domestic abuse.

The core focus of the team is on preventing tenancy breakdown, working on a case management

basis, with a strong focus on prevention and resolution of serious and complex ASB and

neighbourhood issues. Working with statutory partners and community organisations you will

deliver positive outcomes in line with the relevant policy, legislation, regulation and best

practice.
