MAINTENANCE ENGINEER - MECHANICAL BIAS

BLACKBURN

PERMANENT: Mon to Fri 6-2 or 2-10 or rotating weeks

SALARY: £30-35k including shift allowance and benefits

Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are looking to recruit a Maintenance Engineer for a permanent role with our client, a specialist manufacturer based Blackburn.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with all production teams performing both planned and breakdown maintenance and to respond to requests for repairs/spared ordering in a timely manner in accordance with the requirements of the business. 

Responsible for ensuring that facilities, including machinery and associated services are adequately maintained and are capable of running to their maximum efficiency and output. This includes the implementation of a total preventative maintenance programme; the management of breakdowns of Laser, Waterjet, Plasma and CNC Equipment; along with general handyman type activities.

The Main Tasks of the Role are Outlined Below

Provide both a reactive and proactive, multi-skilled maintenance service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure. Responsible for planned scheduled maintenance and ensuring the adherence and timely completion of work carried out.

Increase the site operational effectiveness, improve project delivery, minimise downtime, manage and implement improvement plans, drive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.

Implement and manage continuous improvement and modem manufacturing principles by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training working practices and processes.

Ability to apply exceptional time management.
Strong ability to analyse, resolve and implement solutions through sound problem solving techniques.
Ability to analyse and present data.
Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with all levels of management.
Strong organizational skills.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.

Scope

Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM's) safely along with reacting to production breakdowns.
Assist in the management & control of engineering stocks/tools/equipment and ensure all is documented correctly.
Full understanding of all machinery and equipment workings onsite.
Maintenance Engineer V1 Jan 2023
Ensure all company machinery Health & Safety guidelines are followed and adhered too at all times.
Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Drive continuous improvement within the engineering department.
Carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve any issues.
Monitor and maintain an appropriate inventory of consumables for machine servicing and general repairs, filling out order requests where necessary.
Comply with and implement Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities.
Carry out planned maintenance as agreed with production.

Knowledge/Experience

Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer or other similar roles.
Experience in Laser / Waterjets beneficial although training will be provided.
Is familiar in working with KPI's.

The Person

A proactive attitude to troubleshooting issues with equipment and finding working solutions.
At least 3 years' experience of reactive and preventative maintenance.
Excellent communications skills.
Engineering qualification in either electrical / mechanical.
A good team player.
Solid understanding of technical aspects of mechanical and electrical systems etc.
Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment.
Ability to keep track of and report on activity.
Excellent interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

Skilled Maintenance Engineer with mechanically biased experience.
Performing planned and predictive maintenance.
Diagnosing faults and taking corrective action.
Repairing equipment and reducing downtime.
Carrying out maintenance repairs on machine tools.
Experience of diagnosis and repair of conventional production machinery.
Contributing to improvement activities within the production and maintenance environment.
Need to be reliable, flexible and the ability to prioritise.
Excellent fault finding and testing skills.
Electrical knowledge an advantage.
