Project Design EngineerFull-Time | Permanent An established engineering business is seeking a talented Project Design Engineer to take ownership of bespoke, project-based design work from concept through to completion. This is an opportunity for a confident and commercially aware engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working directly with clients, and seeing their designs delivered into reality. You will play a key role in leading the technical development of custom projects, collaborating across manufacturing, project management and installation teams to ensure successful delivery. This is a senior technical role with full project responsibility, but no direct people management.The Role

• Develop bespoke engineering solutions in response to client specifications and project requirements
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks
• Generate GA drawings, manufacturing packs, technical documentation and Bills of Materials
• Ensure designs meet safety, regulatory and quality standards
• Provide technical input to support costing, scheduling and planning
• Identify and resolve technical risks proactively
• Act as a key technical contact for clients, attending meetings and responding to queries
• Maintain accurate revision control and structured project documentation

About You

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• Strong experience in bespoke or engineered-to-order environments
• Advanced SolidWorks capability, including assemblies and drawing production
• Good understanding of fabrication methods and Design for Manufacture (DFM)
• Confident working directly with clients on technical requirements
• Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
