Copello are working with a leading defence and engineering organisation to recruit a Principal Safety Engineer to join a long-term programme at the forefront of the UK's nuclear sector.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working in high-integrity, regulated environments and wants to take real ownership of key safety deliverables. You'll be part of a team that directly supports the development and ongoing assurance of nuclear safety cases — working closely with Engineering, Human Factors and Site Safety teams to keep standards high and the plant safe.
What you'll be doing:
* Authoring and managing site assets' design substantiation documentation supporting the site nuclear safety case
* Collaborating with the wider business on site assets nuclear design substantiation related activities
* Supporting the implementation of design substantiation requirements
* Reviewing analyses, assessments, and calculations supporting nuclear design substantiation
* Supporting periodic review of safety
* Taking ownership of deliverables, and demonstrating high levels of autonomy and leadership
* Support in the development of team members
* Working closely with a broad range of stakeholders including Site Safety Case, Human Factors, and Engineering Authority Teams
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
* Degree qualified in a STEM subject or equivalent working experience.
* Ability to produce high quality technical reports
* Determined in driving all deliverable and associated activities through due process to completion
* Design substantiation analysis and assessment exposure/experience
* Excellent stakeholder management
