The Role

We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Departmental Manager to lead one of our key production or packaging departments. You'll be responsible for driving performance, managing teams, ensuring compliance, and improving processes to deliver high-quality products on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

*

Lead and supervise daily operations within the packaging department, ensuring production targets and quality standards are met.

*

Manage, coach, and develop team leaders and operatives to maintain high performance and engagement.

*

Monitor KPIs including output, downtime, efficiency, waste, and quality; implement corrective actions as needed.

*

Ensure all health & safety, hygiene, and environmental standards are maintained in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.

*

Coordinate with planning, maintenance, logistics, and quality control teams to optimize workflow and resolve issues.

*

Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, Kaizen) to enhance productivity and reduce waste.

*

Prepare and deliver regular performance reports to senior management.

Requirements

*

Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a manufacturing or packaging environment.

*

Strong understanding of packaging machinery, materials handling, and production workflows.

*

Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate teams and resolve conflicts.

*

Good working knowledge of health & safety legislation and quality standards (e.g., ISO, BRCGS).

*

Analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.

*

Computer literate; experience with production planning or ERP systems is advantageous.

Desirable

*

Qualifications in engineering, operations management, or manufacturing.

*

Experience with automated packaging lines or FMCG production environments.

*

Lean Six Sigma or equivalent continuous improvement training.
