Job Description

Teaching Personnel is seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a welcoming primary school in Burnley. The position is to start as soon as possible and will involve providing one-to-one and small-group support for children with additional learning, communication, and behavioural needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual who is patient, supportive, and dedicated to helping children overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND

Assist with the delivery of targeted interventions

Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional well-being

Support communication, social interaction, and personal development

Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENDCo

Record and monitor pupil progress as required

Requirements

Previous experience working with children (particularly in SEND, care, or support roles)

Calm, empathetic and proactive approach

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff

DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply

Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, Childcare, Health & Social Care) desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
