Job Title: Youth Worker - Alternative Provision for SEMH Students

Location: Telford, West Midlands

Winner Education is currently working with a dedicated provider of alternative provision for students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in Telford. They are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where young people can thrive and achieve their full potential.

Role Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Worker. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in engaging with young people, building trusting relationships, and providing support to address their individual needs. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of young people and contribute to their personal and social development.

Responsibilities:

Engage with young people to build trusting, supportive relationships.
Act as a positive role model and mentor, providing guidance and encouragement.
Plan, organize, and deliver a range of activities that cater to the interests and needs of our young people.
Provide one-on-one or group support sessions addressing various issues faced by young people, including mental health, substance abuse, and other personal or social challenges.
Offer guidance on educational and career pathways to support young people in achieving their goals.
Build and maintain relationships with local schools, community groups, and other relevant organizations to support youth engagement and development.
Work in a multi-agency way, collaborating with other professionals to meet the holistic needs of young people.
Promote youth engagement and development through positive reinforcement and empowerment.
Maintain up-to-date records of youth interactions and progress, ensuring confidentiality and sensitivity.
Manage safeguarding concerns in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
Complete referrals for young people and their families to access additional support services.
Monitor and evaluate the progress of young people, adjusting support interventions as necessary.
Provide a healthy and safe learning environment for students, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Establish a positive and interactive relationship with each young person, recognizing and celebrating their strengths and achievements.
Attend team meetings and training sessions as arranged to enhance professional development and collaboration.

Requirements:

Previous experience working with young people, particularly those with SEMH needs, is desirable.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds.
Empathy, patience, and resilience when supporting young people facing challenges.
Knowledge of relevant issues affecting young people, including mental health, substance abuse, and social issues.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-agency framework, liaising with professionals from different sectors.
Good organizational skills, with the ability to plan and deliver activities effectively.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
Flexibility to adapt to the needs of the role and work in a dynamic environment.
Relevant qualifications or training in youth work, social work, education, or a related field would be advantageous.
