Family Legal Secretary/Assistant

The Firm

A well-established multi-service law firm with a strong reputation in family law is seeking a proactive and highly organised Family Legal Secretary/assistant to join its busy department. The team undertakes a broad range of private and public family matters and is known for thorough case preparation and attention to detail.

The Role

This is a varied and hands-on role providing direct support to fee earners within the family department. The position offers the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility depending on experience and capability.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing full secretarial and administrative support to solicitors
• Opening new client files and managing compliance procedures
• Booking Counsel, experts and court hearings
• Liaising with clients, Counsel, courts and third parties
• Perusing large volumes of evidence and preparing detailed, comprehensive notes
• Assisting with drafting court documents and correspondence
• Managing diaries and key dates
• Preparing court bundles (electronic and hard copy)
• Depending on experience, attending court to sit behind Counsel and assist during hearings

Skills & Experience

• Previous legal secretarial/assistant experience (family law preferred but not essential)
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to review and summarise complex documents accurately
• Good drafting ability and confident written communication
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems
• Ability to manage competing deadlines in a busy environment
