Role Overview

This position involves full operational responsibility for two Ofsted-registered children's homes. You will ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, lead service delivery, support staff teams, and maintain high standards of care and safeguarding.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

You will manage the day-to-day running of both homes, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for children and young people. This includes maintaining regulatory standards, overseeing staff performance, managing resources, and ensuring person-centred care is delivered consistently.

You will work closely with the Responsible Individual and senior leadership team to shape services, lead inspections, and contribute to strategic development. Key aspects include maintaining the Statement of Purpose, ensuring safeguarding practices are upheld, managing budgets, and ensuring excellent record-keeping.

A critical part of the role involves staff recruitment, supervision, development, and performance monitoring. You will lead on rota planning, training, and embedding a strong team culture that values professionalism, learning, and accountability.

You will also be expected to provide on-call support and respond flexibly to the needs of the homes, which may include working evenings or weekends when necessary.

Essential Criteria

*

Minimum 5 years' experience in residential childcare, with 2 years at a supervisory level

*

At least 2 years' experience as a Deputy Manager or above

*

QCF Level 5 in Leadership and Management in Residential Childcare (or 50% completed)

*

In-depth understanding of Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and safeguarding legislation

*

Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills

*

Ability to manage compliance, staff development, and complex care delivery

Desirable Criteria

*

Experience managing EBD, CSE, CCE, autism, or mental health services

*

Previous Ofsted inspection experience with outcomes rated 'Good' or 'Outstanding'

*

Track record of improving service quality and achieving positive outcomes

*

Use of own vehicle with business insurance

Additional Information

This role requires participation in physical intervention and first aid training (provided by the organisation). You must be able to complete all duties required by the role, including those of a physically demanding nature.
